Jodi Coates, G&L Vice President, Talent Acquisition looks at the importance of inclusivity.

Last week, I had the privilege of attending the inaugural Women in Work (WiW) summit in London.

The event left me thoroughly captivated, offering a profound insight into the remarkable strides women have made in the world of business in recent decades.

Undoubtedly, substantial progress has been achieved.

The WiW event had a stellar lineup of powerhouse figures like Sharon White, Alex Mahon and Dame Lesley Regan who were so inspirational - but it remains abundantly clear that there is still much work to be done.

What struck me most were some unsettling accounts of micro-aggressions, intolerance, workplace inequity, motherhood or menopause penalties, and unsupportive work environments that were shared by some speakers and attendees.

However, amidst these disheartening revelations, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of pride in being associated with G&L Healthcare Advisors.

Since our establishment in 2016, our unwavering commitment to inclusivity and our steadfast insistence on hiring the most qualified individuals, regardless of their gender, background, or location, have been the bedrock of our organisation.

Today, I'm thrilled to observe that our global workforce proudly comprises 64 per cent women. This achievement reflects our industry-leading employment policies, which place our employees’ needs and aspirations at the very core of our mission.

At G&L, we not only recognise but celebrate the unique value that individuality and diversity bring to our workplace. We firmly believe that this diversity enriches our company, sparking innovation and fostering an environment of mutual respect.

Yet, it's crucial to acknowledge that the journey towards inclusivity is far from complete.

Regrettably, workplaces like ours, where inclusivity is the norm and diversity is celebrated, are still the exception rather than the rule.

We all share a collective responsibility to make inclusivity a reality, and I am immensely proud to be a part of an organization that takes this responsibility so seriously.

Together, we can continue to champion diversity and equality in the world of business and beyond.
